Out of office with Gita Van den Boer

LINKEROEVER, MELSELE – During the holiday period, many entrepreneurs are also ‘out of office’. We are therefore pleased to take a look at their summer activities. CEO Gita Van den Boer lives in Linkeroever and has her own business in Melsele (Beveren). With Chalo, she wants to market authentic Indian Chai tea worldwide. But when it comes to meeting Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, she sticks to coffee.

What was your first vacation job?

“I worked as a cleaner in a home for the elderly. That way I could combine work with a pleasant chat with the residents. I still attach great importance to social contact, with customers, partners, ambassadors and our team. People and their stories give me energy. Charging that Duracell battery to keep going, that’s so important to me!”

What’s at the top of your bucket list this summer?

“A road trip with my six-year-old set of twins in our own Chalo motorhome. We are heading out to visit friends on holiday in different places in France. Then we’ll travel on to our final destination Barcelona, where we’ll rent a mobile home for a week next to our neighbours from Linkeroever. During our trip, I want to enjoy being together and let my children discover Mediterranean cuisine and nature.”

“At the same time, I will also be working a few hours a day, because I will be visiting potential partners. It’s an ambitious plan, and it might not be easy the first time, but I’m really looking forward to it! It could be a nice annual tradition: a road trip to our Chalo markets.”
